Condition:

Hinged to the back mat at the upper right and upper left. Minor staining, soiling and foxing.

Peter Fuhring, Francois-Joseph Belanger, Didier Aaron and Galerie de Bayser, Paris 2006, p. 17. no. 4 This is one the designs by the architect Francois-Joseph Bellanger assembled in an album by Michel-Victor Cruchet (1815-1899). Both an architect and a designer of court entertainments, Bellanger also designed for Marie Antoinette, the Comte d'Artois, and for numerous wealthy Parisians, often adapting the decorative forms of Pompei and Herculaneum to appeal to contemporary taste.
